Registered Users

First of all, you're probably wondering "why the hassle"? Basically, we have found that spammers run worms which glean E-mail addresses from all WWW pages they can find. We grant public access to all our basic VSTa documents, because those are relatively "clean". But in areas such as VSTa's chat section, it's convenient to include E-mail addresses. So we either need to filter out E-mail addresses in our display (thus VSTa users can't reach each other), or we need bar spammer's web robots. We've gone with the latter, which means that if you want to read (and hopefully participate in!) the chat section, you need to register an account.

When you first create an account (using the "User Preferences" button in the upper right hand corner of most pages), you will be granted a basic account with read and write levels of 0. To become a registered user, first create your level 0 account, then fill in the form at http://www.vsta.org/register/vsta.html. You will receive a response with directions to finish the registration process.

If you don't create an account with the "User Preferences" button first, you will possess no account, and therefore there will be nothing to register. So be sure to create your account first, then submit registration.
